Review | Carinthia presents itself in Germany as a place of research

09/25/2018

The Austrian Business Agency (ABA) organised an event in the framework of its initiative "Forschungsplatz Österreich" under the motto "Österreich. Raum für Ideen" in Stuttgart on 25 September.

About 70 German entrepreneurs followed the invitation to the beautiful setting of Solitude Castle near Stuttgart/Germany to obtain information, among other topics, about the research hub Carinthia.

Österreich. Raum für Ideen. Austria. Space of Ideas. Why is Infineon investing 1.6 billion euros in the expansion of its Villach site? Ralf Memmel, Infineon Vice President HR Global Talent Marketing and member of the Management of the Infineon plant in Munich answered this question. The Federal Province of Carinthia – represented by Jernej Dvoršak – and Styria – represented by Gerald Fasching – presented the benefits and merits that Carinthia and Styria have to offer as outstanding places of research and development in the south of Austria. The Austrian Business Agency – represented by Bernhard Bachleitner and Gerhard Feichtinger – provided information about fiscal aspects and benefits for German companies investing in Austria.

Research-friendly companies and top scientists take a conscious decision in favour of Austria: the intensive cooperation between science, first-in-class research, innovative spin-offs or start-ups and international players makes Austria an innovative location with attractive tax benefits and extensive research funding.
