Carinthian Flow: Research, technology and IT by the River

The River Drava provides cooling opportunities and ensures good neighbourly relations. The High Tech Campus Villach as well as the University of Applied Sciences Carinthia for Engineering and IT are located on the premises of the Villach Technology Park. It is quite literally a park in a park.

Finished in 2015, thus far the building houses the offices and research laboratories of the  Carinthian Tech Research AG, offices of the business incubator build! as well as the companies Klaxon and NiLAB. Klaxon develops and manufactures e-bikes for people with special needs while NiLAB designs and produces miniature motors for the electronics industry and medical equipment.

Since November 2016 the  Silicon Alps Cluster GmbH has been located on the  High Tech Campus Villach. The cluster is an initiative of the provinces of Carinthia and Styria and aims to develop, connect and strengthen the local electronics and microelectronics industries.

Upon its completion – projected for 2024 – it is envisaged that the park will provide a perfect research and working environment for 500 people across approximately 16,000 square metres.

Key Areas: Research & development, education

The High Tech Campus Villach tunes into the needs of local industrial companies and the non-university research institution Carinthian Tech Research AG and focuses on microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), microelectronics, electronics, mechatronics, sensors and actuator systems, printed circuit boards and clean rooms technology.

Due to its collaboration with the University of Applied Sciences for Engineering and IT in Carinthia, students can take actively part in the developments in the park through student research projects and jobs. The university itself provides access to various research laboratories and prototyping facilities.
